- The Easter Rising
This online history documents the 1916 Easter Rising and the War of Independence that followed in 1991-21, both of which transformed the political landscape in Ireland. The site is divided into three sections: the first gives the historical backdrop to the period, introducing Redmond's Home Rule campaign and Ulster Unionists' resistance to it. The second section deals with the 1916 Insurrection The final part of the website deals with the aftermath and how the Rising brought about a renewed interest in an independent Ireland. Essays, photographs, a sound archive, music and newspapers from the period help put this historical period in context. Other features include a section on the rebel song tradition, a radio and press archive and a gallery.
